Reinstate Jack Michaels and Lou Debrusk as Oilers' Playoff Game Announcers

The Issue

Since 2021, Jack Michaels has been the voice of the Oilers for many fans in Edmonton. His dynamic commentary, paired with Lou Debrusk's insightful analysis, has become an integral part of our game day experience during regular season games. Sportsnet allowed them to call round 1 & 2. However, it has come to our attention that Sportsnet has named Chris Cuthbert and Craig Simpson (The voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs) to call the Western Conference Final.  News Flash!!! The Leafs are done. And Cuthbert and Simpson should be done as well. They wreak of bad luck. It's a stench that Oiler fans do not want or like. Jack and Lou's Round 1 & 2 was amazing. 99% of the hockey world agrees.

This change not only disrupts a long-standing tradition but also removes a familiar element from our beloved Oiler hockey games. The rapport between Michaels and Debrusk is something that cannot be replicated overnight; their unique style of commentary is deeply ingrained in our local culture.

Edmontonians deserve to have their preferred announcers calling these crucial playoff games - just as they do throughout the regular season. We understand that changes can occur in broadcasting assignments, but we firmly believe that continuity and familiarity are important aspects of sports broadcasting.

As fans...we matter!!! We watch the games religiously....we pay the ticket prices...we buy the jerseys. By naming these old out of date farts that Oiler fans cannot relate to at all, Sportsnet has pretty much told us we do not matter. And this is a slap in the face!

Therefore, we urge those responsible for this decision to reconsider and reinstate Jack Michaels and Lou Debrusk as announcers for the Oilers' playoff games. Let's keep our traditions alive! Sign this petition if you agree.
