Reinstate Intermissions in Long Duration Movies

Reinstate Intermissions in Long Duration Movies
The Issue
As someone living with Interstitial Cystitis, a condition that necessitates frequent restroom visits, I am deeply affected by the lack of intermissions in long movies. My love for cinema is constantly interrupted by the need to leave the theater mid-movie, causing me to miss key moments and disrupt my overall experience.
The tradition of intermissions during long films was once common practice. It not only allowed audiences a break for refreshments and restroom visits but also served as an opportunity to discuss and digest the film's content thus far. However, this practice has been largely phased out in modern cinema.
According to a survey conducted by YouGov in 2019, 55% of moviegoers would prefer an intermission during films longer than two hours (YouGov Omnibus). This clearly indicates that there is significant public interest in bringing back this tradition.
By reinstating intermissions during long movies, theaters could improve audience comfort and satisfaction without disrupting the cinematic experience. Therefore, we urge movie theaters nationwide to consider reintroducing this valuable feature for their patrons' convenience.
Please sign this petition if you believe everyone should be able to enjoy a full cinematic experience without discomfort or disruption.
