The Issue

On May 27, 2025, the Trump administration escalated its assault on Harvard University by canceling all remaining federal contracts — worth around $100 million — following earlier freezes on over $3 billion in funding. The administration cited alleged antisemitism and discrimination, but critics view the move as political retaliation aimed at silencing dissent. This campaign includes efforts to block Harvard from enrolling international students — a decision already affecting over 6,800 lives. Harvard President Alan Garber has condemned the actions as politically motivated attacks on academic freedom and filed a federal lawsuit to challenge them. These events reflect a dangerous trend of using federal power to punish ideological opposition.

On May 22, 2025, the Trump administration revoked Harvard University’s certification to enroll international students, affecting over 6,800 current students — all now at risk of losing their legal status in the United States.

The justification? Unproven allegations of “pro-terrorist agitators,” “Chinese paramilitary ties,” and vague claims of an “unsafe campus environment.” These inflammatory charges come without due process, evidence, or independent review — and represent a blatant political assault on academic freedom.

This is not immigration enforcement.
This is ideological cleansing masquerading as policy.

It is no coincidence that Harvard — a frequent critic of Trump-era policies and a symbol of liberal academic independence — is the first target in this wave. The DHS, now under Secretary Kristi Noem, is weaponizing student visas to punish dissent, intimidate institutions, and force political conformity.

We, the undersigned, demand:

Immediate reinstatement of Harvard’s ability to admit and support international students.
Congressional investigation into the legality and motivations behind this political revocation.
Permanent safeguards to prevent future administrations from using immigration policy to retaliate against schools or students.
International students are not bargaining chips.
We are scholars, innovators, and essential members of U.S. campuses. This decision puts thousands of lives and futures at risk — and it sets a terrifying precedent for every university in America.

We stood up to ICE in 2020. We will stand up again now.

Sign this petition if you believe in the right to learn, to stay, and to fight back.
