George, our dedicated doorman at Panorama Apartments in Lakeview East, is an integral part of our community. He is the person ensuring our safety, our friend after work, and the impeccable organizer of our packages. He was notified of his termination via email, a disrespectful and abrupt ending that disregards his profound commitment to the community. 

George's sudden dismissal comes with the hiring of a full-time property manager—in lieu of doorman services—a decision which the building residents neither agreed to nor had the chance to discuss. This leaves us without the reliable and efficient package management system George established, exposing our packages at the risk of being lost or stolen. It also means we no longer have a dedicated person guarding our door, compromising the unique safety feature we once enjoyed.

Change is inevitable, but it should not be at the cost of those who have stood by us all these days, tirelessly striving to make our lives easier and our homes safer. We believe George is irreplaceable and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity for his service. This is about more than holding onto our treasured doorman, but standing for empathy, respect, and job security for all in such uncertain times.

We urge the management team of Panorama Apartments to reconsider their decision and reinstate George to his rightful position. He has touched the lives of so many in our community, and we hope we can show him just how many people cherish his work and miss his everyday presence.
