I am a resident of Jacksonville, FL and like many others in our community, I have found solace and companionship in the local game rooms. These spaces have provided us with a place to connect, unwind and enjoy our favorite games. However, these beloved game rooms are illegal.

According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), gaming is not just a fun pastime but also contributes significantly to local economies. In 2019 alone, the gaming industry supported 1.8 million jobs nationwide (AGA). Yet despite these benefits, our city has seen numerous game rooms close their doors.

This isn't just about games; it's about preserving spaces that foster community spirit and camaraderie. It's about ensuring we have places where we can come together to relax and enjoy shared interests.

We urge the city officials of Jacksonville to recognize the importance of these game rooms for our community’s well-being and economic vitality. We call on them to take immediate action towards reinstating these valuable communal spaces.
