Reinstate Facebook Messenger app for MacOS users

Reinstate Facebook Messenger app for MacOS users
The Issue
Until recently, I and many others utilized Facebook Messenger with the application specifically designed for macOS. It made communicating with friends, colleagues, and family a breeze and freed us from communicating on the tiny screen of our phone. However, as of December 15, 2025, Meta decided to discontinue support for the Messenger app on macOS, leaving users like myself struggling with the web-based version or relying solely on a mobile version of the app.
The browser experience of Messenger is far from ideal—it is sluggish, buggy, and lacks the seamless responsiveness previously provided by the standalone app. For those who rely on macOS for daily tasks or simply prefer the desktop environment, the absence of a native Messenger application has created unnecessary frustration and inconvenience.
I urge Meta to reconsider its decision and reinstate support for the Facebook Messenger app on macOS. Bringing back this support will restore efficiency and satisfaction among millions of macOS users who wish to communicate with Meta's Messenger platform.
For many of us, Messenger is more than just a messaging tool; it is a vital link to maintaining social connections and professional communications. Without this app, we lose valuable time and convenience. Without it, many of us are forced to consider moving communications to a different platform rather than limit ourselves to our phone screens or the unreliable browser version on Facebook.com.
Please join me in urging Meta to bring back the Messenger app for macOS. Sign this petition to help us return to a better, streamlined communication experience.
