Reinstate Dr. Muhammad Mahmud at Lewisgale Hospital

Reinstate Dr. Muhammad Mahmud at Lewisgale Hospital
The Issue
Dr. Muhammad Mahmud is one of the kindest people I've ever had the privilege to know. Over the last six years, I have had the honor of calling him one of my closest friends. He is a man motivated by love and compassion, kindness and gratitude. He is not a man of hate.
Recently, Dr. Mahmud was the victim of a targeted, discriminatory attack. An anti-Muslim, pro-Israel Facebook page falsely accused him of anti-Semitism for speaking out against the ongoing oppression in Palestinian territories. His impassioned calls for the end to the genocide of the Palestinian people, his criticisms of Israel's military actions, and his exposure of attacks on hospitals, aid convoys, and more, were wrongly labeled as hate speech.
This baseless accusation resulted in his unjust termination from HCA Lewisgale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia. The hospital's response to these allegations was to sever ties with a man who, through his professional and personal life, has shown nothing but dedication to the rights and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their race or religion.
This is not just about a job—this is about justice, free speech, and human dignity. Dr. Mahmud spoke out against atrocities, against the suffering of innocent civilians, and for that, he was silenced and punished. This is a chilling reminder of how easily misinformation and organized smear campaigns can destroy a person’s livelihood and reputation. If a physician—whose oath is to heal and protect life—can be targeted for speaking up for human rights, what does that say about the values we uphold as a society?
We cannot allow false narratives and coordinated attacks to dictate who deserves to work, serve, and live free of discrimination. Dr. Mahmud is a healer, a caregiver, and a voice for justice. Stripping him of his position sends a dangerous message: that truth and compassion can be punished if they challenge certain interests.
This petition seeks to right this wrong. It calls for the immediate reinstatement of Dr. Muhammad Mahmud to his position at Lewisgale Hospital. He not only deserves to return to his calling but, more importantly, the community deserves to continue benefiting from his compassion and expertise.
Dr. Mahmud has dedicated his life to helping others. Now it is our turn to help him. By standing with him, we are standing against discrimination, against the weaponization of false allegations, and for the fundamental principle that no one should lose their livelihood for speaking the truth.
Join me in expressing our unwavering support for Dr. Mahmud. Sign this petition to demand justice and ensure that truth and righteousness prevail over prejudice and misinformation. Let’s show the world that integrity still matters, that compassion is not a crime, and that courage in the face of injustice will not be punished..
