My son's basketball journey took a turn when Coach Jason Maples took over as Head Varsity Coach. With Coach Maples, our team experienced growth, unity, and respect, all cultivated from the many enduring practices, celebrated victories, and reinforced resilience. Our basketball community knows firsthand that this relationship of mutual respect did not bloom overnight—it was cultivated painstakingly. Abruptly and unjustifiably, Coach Maples was terminated, causing confused frustration in our basketball community. The decision to replace him with Kennedy High School’s Coach stirs up accusations of cronyism involving our current principal, Todd Irving, and other staff at the school.

Coach Maples was not just a coach. He was known for his perseverance, discipline, motivation, inspiration, and lasting friendships. It was under his guidance that our team learned much more than just the game – they learned life lessons about teamwork, respect, and resilience. The decision to strip him of his position, for no legitimate reason, is unjust.
