REINSTATE Coach Isiah Beauchamp as Garden City High School Varsity Coach

REINSTATE Coach Isiah Beauchamp as Garden City High School Varsity Coach

The Issue

On April 19, 2023, beloved Coach Isiah Beauchamp was fired from Garden City Schools as the Varsity Basketball Coach. The original reason given was "they were moving in a different direction." Parents and players fought for his reinstatement and during this discovered allegations that the Athletic Director was seen in inappropriate situations with the female athletic trainer (his subordinate). Upon sharing this information, the administration contacted Coach and changed the reason for his firing to a "local rapper he brought in to meet the kids during half-time at a game". Ironically, Cass Tech High School brought two Detroit rappers to hold an assembly for their team winning the state championship which the Detroit News heralded. Coach B. has not been reinstated even though he has not been accused of or found of any wrongdoing. Almost 30 parents and students stood up for Coach B. at the recent board meeting, many choosing speaking roles, and providing letters of support. The injustice of firing a coach that the team and parents unanimously respected and appreciated his work with their kids is a travesty. Garden City can do better and with your signature, you can ensure that the administration is held accountable for this decision.
