This year, when students excitedly inquired about the permission forms to join our long-standing 40-year ice hockey program at AB School, we were met with the shocking news that the program had been cut. This abrupt decision was made without prior warning or consultation with those involved, leaving our enthusiastic students and supportive community volunteers in disbelief.

This is more than a sports team—it's an integral part of our community's tradition and spirit. For four decades, this program has fostered a sense of camaraderie and taught vital life skills, all while providing equal playing time, sport development, and being inclusive as a coeducational team. Our volunteer commitment remains strong. 

Most neighboring schools proudly maintain their ice hockey teams as well as our middle and high schools, underscoring our determination to reinstate this vital aspect of our school's extracurricular offerings.

Moreover, the program has always  promoted equal opportunities with multiple skill levels, ensuring each player receives ample time to grow and learn on the ice. This inclusive environment is invaluable to the development of our students, both on and off the rink.

We urge the decision-makers to reconsider their stance and collaborate with us to restore the ice hockey program at AB School.
