Those 3 in the morning Walmart visits are something special; a unique part of many of our lives. They offer a unique way to shop, often quieter and more convenient for those working long hours or irregular shifts. Sadly, the end of 24-hour operations in Walmarts around the country have taken this away, leaving many of us bereft of these potentially peaceful shopping experiences.

Before the pandemic, the majority of Walmart's 4,700 U.S. stores were open 24/7. While understandable at the height of the pandemic, the continuation of these reduced hours into our current phase of recovery is now causing considerable inconvenience to many (source: CNBC Reports, 2020).

The impact is felt particularly by night shift workers, whose unusual hours don't align with most businesses’ operating hours, and by individuals who prefer to avoid the day-time crowd for personal or health reasons. By restoring 24-hour store operations, Walmart can continue its mission of saving people money so they can live better, and it will once again be able to add 'at any hour' to that promise.
