It’s time for Southern University to become SWAC Champions again. We all know SWAC stands for Southern Wins Another Championship. Reid Sanders is a innovative coach who will pick up right where Coach Odums left off. He knows what it takes to win at Southern University. If asked why such a young coach, look at Sean McVay and Matt LaFleur. Two of the most successful coaches in the NFL. They also happen to be two of the youngest. Pat Summitt took over at Tennessee at the age of 22. Austin Peay University hired Will Healy at 30, he turned the program around instantly and the program has been winning ever since. The current head coach Scotty Walden is 31, and went 4-2 this spring. why not make Reid Sanders a Southern University Alumus, another house hold name that will join that list of great coaches. Being a head coach is more than X's and O's, it is about leading men and having a vision. Reid can do both! His plan and vision for the program is second to none. He brings a lot football knowledge as well as great character building. Reid has coached for 10 years, but has been around football all his life. Reid is just what Southern needs in a coach. You want buzz, he'll bring it. You want wins and championships, he'll bring it. Not only did he play for Southern, but he’s also coaching there. He helped bring a SWAC Championship back to Southern in 2013. He understands what it takes to win at SU. His coaching accomplishments speak for themselves. Reid accomplished all of this before turning 30!!! He's coached 3 NFL Players and 12 All-Conference Players during his time as a college coach. In 2015 he helped Georgia State finish 8th in FBS Passing Yards. He worked with the Conference Player of the Year (Dray Joseph) and the Freshman Player of the Year (Austin Howard).  During his time as the Offensive Coordinator at St. Augustine High School, his offense put up 10,095 yards of Total Offense (2018-2019) with 9 All-District Selections. Reid Sanders is just what Southern University needs! His staff will be second to none, built with coaches who have coached at the highest levels of football. Reid will be able to recruit top level talent. Southern took a chance with Coach Odums and it paid dividends. The same will be true with Reid Sanders at the helm.
