Rehome Redcliffe's Mousetrap Theatre

Rehome Redcliffe's Mousetrap Theatre
The issue
Mousetrap Theatre has a 70-year history on the Redcliffe peninsula, bringing affordable entertainment to the local area. Our members range from 7 years old to over 90. We hold youth workshops for school aged children, helping the students gain theatre skills, confidence, and fostering a spirit of teamwork. Our membership also includes a number of older people who see theatre as not only a performance opportunity, but a means of staying social and active. Those of us in the middle are equally committed to, and passionate about, our little theatre. Our members and audience live in various Divisions with the MBRC region, with some travelling from even further afield to be part of our activities.
Recently, our building has been assessed by Council and found to require extensive, and expensive, repairs and upgrades, to the extent that the building is no longer viable. As a result, we are unable to use our building for performances and have become a “travelling show”, hiring local halls and venues as required to keep our theatre alive. Continuing our operations in this manner is draining for our members and our finances, and the uncertainty is affecting our audience base.
Councillor Karl Winchester is working with us to find a new home, and he will need the support of other Councillors when it comes to a vote. Please help rehome a piece of local history.
With your help, we can show the other Division Councillors in the Moreton Bay Region what Mousetrap Theatre means to our local community.
