Regulate Vaping Products Like Tobacco, Not Ban Them

Regulate Vaping Products Like Tobacco, Not Ban Them
The issue
I used to be a heavy smoker, consuming a pack of cigarettes every day. This habit was not only detrimental to my health but also cost me $350 per week. My life changed when I discovered vaping; it drastically reduced my weekly expenses to just $30. This extra money was then channeled into family outings and savings.
However, the recent ban on vaping has forced me back into smoking. Moreover, this ban could potentially push young adults who previously vaped into picking up smoking - an arguably more harmful alternative.
It is crucial that we address this issue urgently. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States alone (CDC). On the other hand, Public Health England maintains that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking (PHE).
We are not advocating for unrestricted access to vaping products but rather a sensible regulation similar to tobacco products. Vaping should come with appropriate packaging warnings and be subject to tax like cigarettes.
By doing so, we can ensure that those who have switched from traditional cigarettes aren't forced back into their old habits while still protecting our youth from unrestricted access.
Please sign this petition if you believe in reasonable regulations over outright bans which could lead us back towards more harmful alternatives.
