Living in Van Nuys has become increasingly unbearable for residents due to the incessant noise pollution caused by propeller planes flying at alarmingly low altitudes. I have personally experienced the stress and disruption these planes cause, as their loud, continuous flights directly overhead have made simple pleasures such as enjoying our yards and pools a challenge. Our children are also forced to grow up under a constant barrage of mechanical noise that affects their ability to play outside, concentrate on schoolwork, and experience a peaceful childhood.

In recent years, this problem has escalated significantly, with more planes flying lower, creating unbearable noise and air pollution. The lack of proper regulation of these flight patterns is not only an inconvenience but poses serious health risks to our community, affecting children in schools and residents who are exposed to the constant noise.

According to the World Health Organization, prolonged exposure to noise pollution can lead to adverse health effects, including hearing impairment, stress-related illnesses, and even cardiovascular issues. This is a problem that Van Nuys residents should not have to endure.

We propose stricter regulations and oversight of flight patterns and altitudes for propeller planes operating out of Van Nuys Airport. This includes mandatory higher altitudes for flights, rerouting flight paths to avoid densely populated areas, and limiting the number of flights during early morning and late evening hours.

Implementing these changes will help restore the peace in our neighborhood, ensuring our children can enjoy their homes and outdoor spaces without interruption, and maintain a healthy and pleasant living environment for all residents.
