Zach Churchill started this petition to Regis Jesuit High School and

Why should we be graded in the same ways as we were before the pandemic if the academic situation does not equate to that of the situation before?

With the ever-changing world we live in at the moment, and all of the stress that fills anybody's, but especially teenage minds, grades and assignments can sometimes all just feel so heavy. Due to the shortened classes, a good percent of our classwork is being pushed outside of class time and turned into homework which is just added on top of the copious amounts of homework we have already been assigned in those classes.

Also during non-Covid-19 era, it was very normal behavior for students to need to work through some class or homework with teachers during class time, or popping in a few minutes before or after, because they may have been confused. However, because of how things are operating now with shortened/or no in person instruction, and very limited face to face time, I strongly believe that students simply should not be held to the same standards of academic achievement during this time as our current learning situation falls short of most adequate resources to reach a students full potential. Why should we be graded the same ways as before if the academic situation does not equate to that of the situation of before.

I made this in hopes that enough Regis Jesuit students can show the Faculty and Staff of the school, that the stress of all of our rapidly changing lives on top of grades and school work can be too much sometimes. Once the petition gets enough signatures I will take it directly to Mr. Tricco to show him what his students need of him in order for all of us to be able to feel more confident about entering this school year. The plan is to implement a revised/adjusted grading scale similar to the one that was in place during the end of the 2019/20 school year.
