The Issue

Digital Extremes, Warframe's developers don't hold back from permabanning players in the game. Due to one slip-off during an argument with another player (which, let's face it, has become part of a gamer's experience while playing), you can get banned from Warframe until the year 2035. Now don't get me wrong, I don't support toxicity in the gaming community, but to get angry and say something regrettable to other players is not something that should become a life sentence! A reform system should also include the reintegration element, which Warframe simply decided to 'ban' from their punishment system. I believe a progressive ban (1/3/7 days) is more suitable to deal with  one slip-off. As I have stated before, a good and humane punishment system should allow a player to reenter the community and make changes for the better; treating people who have made one mistake as scum is simply terrible and abusive, not to say that it's unthinkable that Warframe has no trouble sending the message that you are beyond retribution and should become secluded from your in-game friends and community. Not to mention that should you try to contact their support system, either to ask for more information, or simply to send an apology letter, the support team will just cut you off in order to make sure that they never hear from you again.

Permabanning hackers is a well known punishment, and one that should be endorsed. But when we talk about being 'toxic' in one moment of anger and having to spend the rest of our gamer life in penitence, I believe here is where things become way too extreme.

I would also like to highlight that in recent years (the statistics are available online for everyone to check) the all-time peak of active players based on Steam has been of 181,509 as of July 2021, ever since continuing with a descending trend, reaching 118,297 in December 2021, with the mention that in December 15th the highly awaited New War content was finally released after a long time. For the past 30 days, the peak has been of 78,924, averaging at 49,635.8. Warframe is losing valuable players from their community monthly due to an inappropriate punishment system (should you check the videos, articles or post dealing with the subject, you will find that 'permaban' or 'banned until 2035' have become the words that Warframe is synonymous with).

The players are not the only ones that would benefit greatly from being able to rejoin the game, but Warframe itself would benefit from more players joining everyday and supporting the game and the Digital Extremes company. Due to this misplaced permaban system, old players simply renounce the game due to feeling targeted and abused, and new players due to fear of the infamous ban system simply turn down the game completely. If we are to look with a macro perspective, content creators lose both potential and current subscribers, since the Warframe community is being decimated daily.

I really do hope this petition reaches DE and all the people who have lost both their in-game friends and the joy of playing Warframe due to an unjust,  irrational highly sensitive zero-tolerance policy.

To conclude, I would like the emphasize the fact that much like the everyday community that we live in since birth, an in-game experience resembles such a community. The question which arises is: Does everyone know how it feels like to make one mistake due to anger, frustration or day-by-day stress? And do we wish to be given the chance to make-up for our slip-off? Well, on behalf of all the banned Warframe players, I can give you an honest 'YES' answer, and end my petition with the hope that this chance will be given to all of us by DE.
