The Issue

My child is very young, and it troubles me deeply to leave them unattended at the school gates of Waltham Holy Cross School. According to the NSPCC, very young children should never be left alone, yet current school policy mandates just that, leaving many parents, including myself, anxious and worried.

The current drop-off policy in place at Waltham Holy Cross means that our young children are left without supervision until they safely enter the school building. This lack of oversight places unnecessary stress on young children and their parents alike, potentially endangering the children's safety. It is crucial that we address this to ensure our children are provided with a safe environment at all times.

Statistics by the NSPCC and various child safety organizations highlight the risks and vulnerabilities posed to unsupervised young children. A lack of supervision can lead to accidents, bullying, or even abductions. It's imperative that Waltham Holy Cross School acknowledges these risks and protects our kids by reviewing and amending their drop-off policy.

We call upon the management of Waltham Holy Cross to reform this policy to allow one authorised person per child or group of children to accompany them to their classroooms. Such a change would not only align with child safety experts' advice but also offer peace of mind to parents entrusting their children to the care of the school.

Let's unite as a community in Waltham Abbey and ask for immediate reform in the school's drop-off protocols to safeguard our children's well-being. Please sign this petition and help provide a voice to the need for change. Together, we can ensure a safer, more secure environment for our children. Sign the petition to support this essential safety measure at Waltham Holy Cross School.
