Reform Universal Studios Hollywood's Disability Pass Registration Process

The Issue

I am writing this petition on behalf of all disabled guests of Universal Studios Hollywood, but particularly on behalf of two close friends who have learning challenges and use standard/typical mobility devices. Their typical electric mobility scooters are not included in the list of acceptable mobility devices that Universal Studios Hollywood allows into the park. This exclusion, as well as the rest of Universal Studios Hollywood's current disability pass registration process, is burdensome, invasive, and unnecessary, highlighting a significant flaw in Universal Studios' disability policies.

Currently, when registering for a disability pass at Universal Studios Hollywood, guests must sign up on a third-party website/app that requires them to provide detailed information about their disability. This includes providing contact information and statements from medical providers, government entities, or educational support professionals related to accommodations. The process is invasive and burdensome - it places an undue burden on individuals with disabilities who simply want to enjoy their time at the park like any other guest.

This registration process is not only inconvenient but also harmful, as it invades privacy by requiring disclosure of sensitive personal health information. It's important to remember that people with disabilities have the right to enjoy public facilities without having their privacy invaded or being subjected to undue hardship.

We believe that there are more respectful ways for Universal Studios Hollywood to verify someone's need for accommodation without resorting to such invasive measures. We urge them to review their current policies and make necessary changes so as to not only respect guests' privacy but also ensure they can fully participate in all activities offered by the park.

Please join us in calling upon Universal Studios Hollywood to change their disability pass registration process, which currently poses unnecessary barriers for people with disabilities.

In addition to signing this petition, which will be sent directly to the theme park and NBC/Universal generally, I am providing contact info so you can contact Universal directly yourself outside of this petition:
