Reform UK Family Law to Support Equal Parental Access Rights

Reform UK Family Law to Support Equal Parental Access Rights
The Issue
As a deeply affected party, I, along with many fathers in the UK, are caught in the grip of an adversarial family law system. We are required to pay significant amounts just to attain mediation and court access to our children when the mother denies us the right. Despite having equal parental rights documented on birth certificates for any child born after 2003, these men find their rights ignored, their bonds with their children strained, and a system that in practice stands against them.
There are countless fathers diligently fulfilling their financial responsibilities, laboring to save enough for mediation and court fees, just to maintain their rightful relationship with their children. It's an unjust burden and one that needs to be addressed urgently and substantially.
According to a report by Families Need Fathers (FNF), there are millions of children in the UK who grow up without any meaningful relationship with their fathers. This is not only a tragedy for the fathers but also for the children who are denied the love and care of both parents (FNF, 2018).
We must change this. We call upon the UK government to reform family law. It's time to make the system more accessible and affordable, and to guarantee fairness that stands up to the principle that a child has the right to a relationship with both parents. This is about safeguarding children’s futures, protecting fathers’ rights, and promoting gender equality in our society. Stand with us. Sign this petition and let us make the UK a better place for our children, and for families.
