U.S. law currently allows the government to collect and search Americans’ communications without a warrant under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

Now, artificial intelligence is making that power far more dangerous.

AI can rapidly analyze massive datasets — including emails, texts, location data, and online activity — allowing the government to track where you go, who you know, and what you believe.

Lawmakers from both parties warn this could turn surveillance into something unprecedented.

At the same time, agencies can purchase detailed personal data from private data brokers and run AI analysis on it — without your consent.

This is a major gap in privacy protections.

Set strict limits on AI use in surveillance
