Reform the Wealden Dog Warden Collection Process

The Issue

IF YOU FOUND A STRAY DOG…. WOULD YOU BE OK LOOKING AFTER IT IN YOUR HOME UNTIL ITS COLLECTED? The current process used by the Wealden Dog Warden to collect stray and lost animals has room for considerable improvement. Community members have raised concerns about efficiency, transparency and the overall welfare of the animals impacted. Animal rights advocate groups, such as PETA, have documented that rapid response and transparent protocols greatly improve animal welfare outcomes. Given that each year there are approximately 1,000 stray dogs reported in the Wealden area (according to recent local government data), refining the warden collection process has the potential to positively impact a significant number of animals. Moreover, it allows us to ensure that our community is a place where animal welfare is a priority. It is crucial that we demand better for our community's pets. Therefore, we ask that the Wealden Council initiate a review and reform of the dog warden collection process, taking into account the provisions for a rapid response, clear and humane handling protocols and transparent communication with concerned residents.

SO WHAT DO WE WANT TO CHANGE

1) we would like the animal warden to change their policy to allow the dog warden to collect from a third party (Vets)

2) We would like the dog warden to call back in a timely manner

3) WE WANT THE DOG WARDEN TO COLLECT STRAY DOGS

Join us in urging the council to better meet the welfare needs of our community's lost and stray animals. Sign this petition today to advocate for a more effective and humane Wealden Dog Warden Collection Process.
