The Issue

We, as students of Georgia Tech, deeply concern ourselves with the state of our nation's immigration system. Drawing from our experiences in a diverse educational community, we recognize the profound importance of an effective immigration process. The current system, unarguably, is flawed and contributes substantially to the rise in illegal immigration. It fails to meet the needs of worthy immigrants while compromising national security.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, there were around 11.96 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States as of January 2015. This reflects what the broken immigration system has brought upon us; an alarming rise in numbers that impedes the vision of a healthier and safer community. Not only does this illustrate a failure in security measures, but also underpins the hardships faced by immigrants seeking legal routes to naturalization.

We aim to address the widespread issues in the legal immigration system to curb the growth of illegal immigration. Additionally, we push for implementation of a quicker, more transparent, and safer naturalization process. This includes clear immigration laws, efficient processing of immigration applications, and comprehensive efforts to ensure immigrant integration.

We stand strong in our belief in an America that is welcoming, secure, and fair. Let's work together to push for effective immigration reforms that meet the needs of immigrants and the nation's security as well. We urge you to sign this petition to show your support for a restructured and efficient immigration system.
