As a parent, I have always prioritized my children's education. They consistently maintain good attendance records at school. However, like many other families, we struggle to afford holidays outside of term time due to inflated prices. This situation forces us to choose between our children's education and their right to family time and relaxation as well as the importance of this on our childrens development. These fines disproportionately affect lower-income families who can't afford the high costs of holidays during peak times.

We believe that this system is unjust and needs reforming. We are not advocating for regular absences or undermining the importance of consistent schooling; rather we are calling for a more compassionate approach that takes into account individual circumstances and promotes fairness.
