The Issue

During the 2026 CBSE Board exams, I dedicated myself entirely to my studies and confidently walked out of the examination room believing I had performed well enough to score over 85%. Specifically, in my Accounts paper, I anticipated securing more than 65 marks. When I saw the final result, I was shocked and disheartened to find only 36 out of 80 marked for a paper I had prepared thoroughly for.

This unexpected low score has severely affected my confidence and disrupted my plans for higher education. It feels profoundly unfair that all my hard work and dedication seem to be disregarded due to what appears to be a flawed OSM evaluation system. I am certainly not alone; many students feel that the OSM system results in an inconsistent and unreliable representation of their actual performance.

The Online Scanning and Marking (OSM) system, implemented to streamline the evaluation process, appears to have inherent issues that affect the accuracy of marking, as evidenced by experiences shared among students. Many students, myself included, fear misrepresentation of their abilities and doubt the system's ability to provide fair outcomes.

To address this concerning issue, I urge CBSE to conduct a thorough review of the OSM checking system. It is crucial that the board takes into account the growing volume of student concerns and takes decisive action to either rectify identified issues in the system or consider phasing it out in favor of a more reliable evaluation method.

The desired solution here is clear: CBSE should reconsider or remove the OSM system, ensuring a fair manual re-evaluation process for all students affected by these inaccuracies. Such measures would help restore faith in the examination process and ensure that every student receives a grade that truly reflects their hard work and capabilities.

Ensuring a fair evaluation system is essential not only to uphold the integrity of our education but also to protect the futures of thousands of students, whose academic and professional paths are heavily influenced by these examinations. Please join me in this movement to demand fairness and accuracy in board exam evaluations by signing this petition.
