The Issue

We, Lebanese students, have been desperately trying to continue our education amidst daunting and inhumane conditions. From schools intermittently closed due to political instability, to studying under literal bombs, our educational journey has been a marathon of survival rather than enlightenment. Most of us have not even had the opportunity to learn the entire curriculum vital for our official Baccalaureate exams, yet the expectations remain unchanged.

The reality is stark. Schools have been disrupted, teachers are struggling, and students are unable to receive the education they deserve. Compounding our challenges are ongoing crises such as electricity shortages, limited access to digital resources, and the mental fatigue of learning amidst chaos. This is not just about succeeding in our exams, but about our fundamental right to education that we are repeatedly being denied.

As the crisis deepens, we urge the Ministry of Education of Lebanon to recognize our plight. Cancellation of the official Baccalaureate exams must be considered as a possible solution to these extraordinary circumstances. However, if cancellation remains off the table, adopting a system of elective subjects is the least we deserve. This adjustment would allow us to focus on subjects we've been able to study, reflecting a more accurate representation of our knowledge and capabilities.

It is paramount that the Ministry acknowledges the unprecedented challenges we face and adjusts the examination system accordingly. This is not just a plea for fairness; it is a demand for equitable education in the light of insurmountable adversity.

We call on our fellow students, educators, parents, and concerned citizens to support us in this fight for our educational future. Your signature on this petition can make a change. Please sign and help us bring this critical issue to the forefront of governmental action.
