I am a Californian, a parent, and a victim of an unjust system. Over the past three years, I have found myself embroiled in an unending legal battle with the Family Judicial System and The Department of Child Support Services. Despite my best efforts to navigate this complex system on my own due to financial constraints, I am still burdened with a monthly child support payment of $3600 - far beyond what my income allows.

Every paycheck leaves me with only $200-$400 after child support deductions. Yet despite presenting these facts to the court multiple times, there has been no change or consideration for my financial situation. This is not just about me; it's about countless parents across California who are trapped in similar circumstances.

The current system seems rigged against fathers like myself and appears to favor mothers without considering individual circumstances or fairness. This is not only detrimental for parents but also for our children who become pawns in this broken system.

According to the U.S Census Bureau (2018), 1 out of 6 custodial parents are fathers. Yet many face unfair treatment from family courts and child support services that seem biased towards fathers.

We need reform now! We call upon lawmakers in California to review these practices within our Family Judicial System and The Department of Child Support Services. We urge them to implement changes that ensure fair treatment regardless of gender while taking into account individual financial situations.
