Reform Registration Process at University of Richmond Based on Graduation Year

The Issue

At present, registration at the University of Richmond operates based on entry year as opposed to graduation year. This system prevents students from taking their education into their own hands, and forces them to follow the 4-year system, no matter how ahead they are or how big of a class-load they decide to take on. Registration by credits makes the most sense, since students at one credit level have comparable numbers of limited courses left. A person with 5-6 major courses left should logically register at the same time as other people with 5-6 major courses left, no matter the entry class.

This process is standard for universities across the country, and does not put anyone at a disadvantage. It simply allows the few abnormal students to be given the same opportunity as their peers who have received the same amount of college education.

We are therefore calling on the University of Richmond administration to revise the current registration system and allow students to register according to their graduation year, not their entry year. This change not only alleviates a good amount of financial pressure on some families but also paves the way for students to have better control over their academic trajectory. Please, sign this petition to stand with us for an equitable registration process.
