The Issue

In today's society, fathers who genuinely care about their children are often sidelined in family courts. This is especially true in New Jersey, where the system tends to favor mothers, regardless of what's best for the child. It's time for both parents to receive equal consideration when it comes to custody decisions.
I've witnessed firsthand how biased the process can be. In my situation, the mother of my child is currently not in a position to provide a stable environment. Yet DCP&P and the courts automatically lean towards granting her visitations without supervision. This isn’t about tearing down mothers or overlooking situations where fathers fall short. It's about fairness and ensuring that every decision made is truly in the child's best interest.
We all know situations where the mother might not be the best caregiver. Still, she is often given an advantage by default. This unjust dynamic forces many fathers to battle tirelessly for their rights, often without success. Fathers, who love and want to be involved in their children's lives, deserve a fair chance in court.
Let's push for reforms that allow unbiased and individual custody evaluations. Decisions must be made based on present realities and the welfare of the child, not outdated stereotypes or assumptions about gender roles. Our children's well-being depends on it.
This isn't just a local issue affecting one or two cases. The ripple effect of changing these laws in New Jersey could encourage similar actions across the country. It's time we create a more balanced, just system for assessing parental capabilities.
Please join me in calling for a reform of New Jersey family law. Sign this petition to advocate for systems that genuinely prioritize the welfare of our children by providing both parents with an equal opportunity to care for their own. Let's make our voices heard and inspire change for better, fairer family court practices.
