Reform congressional pay and accountability

Reform congressional pay and accountability
The Issue
To the citizens of the United States,
It’s time for real accountability in our government. When Congress fails to do its job and allows a government shutdown, hardworking Americans and federal employees across the nation are the ones who suffer. Yet members of Congress continue to collect their paychecks — even while millions go without.
This must change!
We, the undersigned, demand that the American people be given the right to vote on how members of Congress are paid. Specifically:
If the government shuts down, members of Congress should not be paid until the shutdown is fully resolved.
After a shutdown, Congress should be the last group to receive their back pay — only after all federal employees and essential workers have been paid in full.
Future pay adjustments for Congress should be determined by public vote, not by Congress itself.
We believe that public service should mean serving the people first — not personal financial security during times of crisis. This reform would ensure fairness, accountability, and integrity in government.
Let’s send a message to Washington: if you don’t do your job, you don’t get paid.
It’s time to put the power back where it belongs — in the hands of the people.
