Reform Children's Services and Court Systems to Support Parents, Not Replace Them
The Issue
I am a dedicated mother, wrongfully targeted by children’s services and the court system. Despite my unblemished record as a parent, harsh and unmerited measures are being pursued to separate me from my daughter permanently. This is not just my personal struggle, but an issue faced by many innocent parents across our nation.
In the United States, Child Protective Services (CPS) reportedly receives over 3 million reports of child abuse annually. However, according to a study published by the National Coalition for Child Protection Reform, many of these reports are 'screened out' or 'closed with no finding' – translating to significant numbers of parents wrongly accused. Yet the system, which is supposed to aid families, is often the source of unwarranted disarray for parents like myself.
Family courts too display a questionable bias. A survey conducted by The Leadership Council confirms that 58% of court-ordered child custody cases result in children being placed with abusive parents, indicating a clear disconnection between judgment and reality.
We advocate for an urgent reform of the Children's Services and the court systems, pledging for a balance between protection and preservation of families. The system should aid parents who are unfairly prosecuted, rather than creating an unwarranted chasm between them and their children.
We need a system that recognizes love, dedication, and parental capability over inaccurate and hasty judgement. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a fairer system that works to support families, not displace them.
