Reform Child Support Laws and Advocate for Men's Rights
The Issue
My name is Scott Newcomer, and I am a man who has experienced firsthand the bias of our legal system, particularly in family court. The current child support laws disproportionately affect men, often leaving us financially strained while also denying us equal parental rights. This is not just my story; it's the story of countless men across the country who are treated unfairly in comparison to women when it comes to child support and custody battles.
The National Parents Organization reports that only 17.5% of custodial parents are fathers (2018). This statistic highlights a systemic issue within our judicial system where mothers are favored over fathers in custody disputes. Furthermore, according to Census Bureau data (2013), over 85% of all child support payers are men.
The time has come for change. We need to reform our child support laws to ensure they're fair and equitable for both parents. Men should not be disadvantaged simply because of their gender when it comes to parental rights or financial obligations after separation or divorce.
We call on lawmakers at all levels - local, state, and national - to review existing legislation with a critical eye towards equality. We ask them to consider amendments that will ensure fairness for all parties involved in child custody and financial support matters.
Please sign this petition if you believe in advocating for men's rights and creating a fairer legal system that respects the rights of both parents equally.
