Welcome to June’s newsletter.
Just when I was beginning to wonder what on earth I was going to write about this month, everything exploded. So here goes……
Jesse Norman MP:
Lucy’s home city MP, Jesse Norman of the Conservative Party, added his voice to the need for a full re-examination of the case by making a short speech in Parliament.
He spoke of the many concerns raised by experts in neonatology, pathology, statistics and now, most recently, from the renowned forensic scientist Dame Sue Black. Mr Norman then highlighted the fact that the safety of the verdict should not be avoided.
He also reminded the house that the case lacked any eye witnesses, CCTV footage, forensic evidence, or a formal confession, as well as briefly mentioning Lucy’s prior complaint against the consultants at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Despite being (rather unfairly) cut short by the Speaker of the House, Mr Norman has done Lucy a huge service and we are very grateful to him for being so brave by speaking out.
But there’s more……...
After Mr Norman was silenced, Sir Alan Campbell of the Labour Party, got up to speak, covering a range of other subjects before responding to what Mr Norman had to say about Lucy.
He too acknowledged the unease about the convictions on, not just the Conservative side of the house, but also the Labour side and stated his intention to raise the matter with ministerial colleagues, with the offer to Mr Norman to be able to communicate directly with them if he so wishes.
This is a fantastic outcome and it takes the number of sitting MP’s publicly questioning the convictions from three to five! I have no doubt that number will continue to rise.

If you have not yet written to your own MP about Lucy’s plight or have not done so for a while, why not have another try now before Parliament breaks for summer in mid-July? So much has happened in recent months, making this a very good time to reach out.
If required, a template letter and some advice on how to go about writing to your MP is available in our November 2025 newsletter linked below:

Ockenden Independent Services Review:
The findings of the largest NHS maternity care scandal were published on 24 June 2026.
Led by senior midwife Donna Ockenden, the investigation into the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, covering the years between 2012 to 2025, uncovered "deeply embedded systemic failures" that resulted in hundreds of avoidable injuries and deaths.
Some of the notable core failures in the final report include but are not limited to:
- A toxic workplace culture
- Dismissing patient and / or their family’s concerns
- Chronic understaffing
- Deliberate cover-ups
Now doesn’t all of the above sound like a carbon copy of something we have heard before? Minus a scapegoat of course!
Following revelations that some senior hospital executives declined to engage in the review, the government announced that current and former NHS staff will now be legally compelled to give evidence or face imprisonment. The Yellow Butterfly Group certainly welcomes this more robust approach of better accountability for all.
Here is Ms Ockenden’s press conference shown live on Sky News:

Petition:
Following last month’s huge surge in numbers, this month has been a little more pedestrian and the petition currently sits at a very respectable 23,163 signatures.
We are absolutely desperate to get it past the 25,000 milestone BEFORE the next mainstream TV documentary comes out (nothing is currently in the pipeline that we know of, although it is likely to be sooner rather than later, given that we’ve already had nine in less than three years).
Those two things combined could give it a very strong chance of going viral for the first time, as naturally, people will take it more seriously when they see an already big number in front of them. It could also help attract some newspaper coverage / support.
With that in mind, I am asking everyone reading this to please keep on supporting it in any way that you can and continue to push this collective ambition of its success that we all share. I remain convinced that we are capable of getting it to a number that simply can’t be ignored, but we are still some way from that.
YouTube:
I am delighted to announce that our next YouTube video will be released one week today at 12 noon. It will feature an FAQ of our petition, where I will answer the six most common questions we get asked regarding it.
Please keep a look out for that and help to circulate it as much as you can. If you are not already subscribed to our YouTube channel, please consider doing so by clicking on the link below:

The second half of this year will be very top heavy with new and varied content that I can’t wait to share.
My thanks once again to everyone who continues to make Lucy’s struggle their struggle in this ongoing fight for truth and justice. We will win!
