Reestablish June as Men Mental Health Awareness Month

The Issue

Let’s be honest: Pride Month has become an absurd distraction. The focus has shifted from real issues to things that don’t make any sense. I’ve watched year after year as men around me suffer with depression, anxiety, and a suicide rate that’s through roof. It’s time to face facts: Men’s Mental Health Month needs to replace "pride month".

First off, I have nothing against people being gay. I’m sure some people really are gay or struggle with identity. I don’t care if you want to identify as LGBTQ+, but let’s stop pretending that the increase in these identities is anything but a trend. There’s no denying it—more and more people, especially young people, are claiming to be non-binary or identifying as something they weren’t born as. In fact, recent studies show that nearly 30% of Gen Z now identify as LGBTQ+. It’s not because there’s suddenly a massive shift in human nature—it’s because it’s become a trend. Society is pushing the narrative that LGBTQ+ are victims, when in reality most of them are creating victims by glorifying disorders instead of seeking help.

Meanwhile, men are silently suffering. Men’s mental health issues have always been downplayed, and Pride Month only amplifies this. While LGBTQ+ causes get more and more media attention, men are still expected to keep quiet about their struggles. Men’s Mental Health Month, which was started in 1994, was supposed to raise awareness about male depression, suicide, and emotional isolation. But it’s been completely overshadowed by Pride Month, which has taken the spotlight year after year.

What’s worse is that the mental health struggles of men are not being taken seriously. Straight men have the highest rate of suicide of any group, and yet Pride Month takes up all the airtime. Additionally, over 91% of veterans are straight males, who often suffer from PTSD and depression, and yet we reserve an entire month to celebrate people's identity? What a joke.

The focus should be on real problems, not on celebrating gender confusion or identity politics. The push for people to identify as something they weren’t born as isn’t a “progressive victory”—it’s a sign of a culture that’s lost its way. The truth is, gender dysphoria is still recognized as a mental health disorder in the medical field, yet society acts like it’s something to be celebrated. Instead of using a fake identity as a way out, people should seek help. But with all this pride inclusion, it seems wrong to admit you’re struggling. This “celebration” isn’t helping anyone. It’s just making things worse.

Saving men's mental health is a huge step towards a better world, and it can start with you signing this petition before it's too late!
