Reducing California's High School Class Size

Reducing California's High School Class Size
The Issue
California's public high school average class size is around thirty-five students per class. Only three other states have average high school class sizes of thirty students or more. Although California has enacted class reduction legislation in the past, as in the 1990s, these class size reduction (CSR) programs were explicitly aimed at kindergarten through third grade and limited high school class size decreases. To improve learning experiences for high school students, student-to-teacher ratios need to be reduced further, and more funding is required to hire more faculty members.
This petition seeks to encourage further class size reduction programs in California that explicitly decrease student-to-teacher ratios in public high schools, especially in populated districts.
