On 7/20/22 at 6:12pm, I heard a fatal crash next to Publix & Walgreens. Within seconds, I witnessed a man die in a pool of his own blood. And I've seen the aftermath of SEVERAL OTHER SCENERO ACCIDENTS in less than 12 months. Imagine scattered car & body parts one day & the next day, the accident scene looks "business as usual”. It's time for IMMEDIATE change. If drivers don’t hover their brakes in this section, there would be an accident almost every hour.

High speed is “one of the leading causes of accidents in the US”. Given the frequent number of accidents and fatalities on US-1 near Kings HWY, we are requesting change.  Our request is simple. We ask for:

1). A prompt speed reduction on US-1 between Poinsettia St. & Kings Highway.
2). A large “Caution Slow Down” sign on both sides of US-1 right before the new speed limit. With blinking lights if possible.

What this will do: 
1) Reduced speed will increase one’s response/braking time and will reduce the velocity of impact in the event of a collision. 
2) Caution signage will heighten ones sensitivity to a high-risk, high-crash location. 

Additional road revisions may be helpful but this is certainly a start. Some people have also suggested No turn/No U-turn by certain medians.
