The United States has always been a melting pot of cultures, and one of the ways we celebrate this diversity is through music.

However, high visa fees are creating barriers for international artists who wish to tour the U.S., stifling cultural exchange and depriving audiences of diverse musical experiences.

As per American Immigration Council, obtaining a P-1 visa is required for each individual in the entertainment group. 

As of April 1st, 2024 the cost per individual was raised to $1,615 to $1,655 (from $460) in filing fees alone. This does not include additional legal fees or processing costs which can run into thousands. Additionally, applications that are rejected receive no refunds.

These exorbitant costs are prohibitive for many talented artists from around the world who wish to share their art with American audiences.

We urge our policymakers to consider reducing these visa fees, making it more accessible for international artists to tour the U.S., enriching our cultural landscape and promoting global unity through music.
