I am writing regarding the charges imposed are not only a financial burden but also a matter of utmost concern for our community at Mead Fields, especially regarding the health and safety of our children and parents.

Having reviewed the estate service charge budget, I found several items listed that raise questions about their justification and actual implementation. The budget includes costs for services like litter bin emptying, general repairs and maintenance, tree and hedge works, pest control, Rhyne & watercourse maintenance, play park equipment service and maintenance, communal electricity, audit & accounting costs, and fees for company secretaries. While we all understand the importance of maintaining our community's environment and ensuring safety, there needs to be transparency and fairness in how these charges are calculated and utilized.

For many families, especially those with children, unexplained costs represent a financial strain. It's essential that any service charge correlates directly to actual and necessary services provided. Documents and communications received thus far have not provided adequate explanation or justification for these charges, especially when health and safety are purportedly at stake.

We kindly urge the responsible parties to review the current budget and disclose detailed explanations of each listed expense. Most importantly, if any expenses are unnecessary or inflated, they should be immediately amended to reflect a fair price. Transparency should be paramount, with all measures taken to ensure that charges are reasonable, and that funds are primarily focused on areas that directly benefit the community’s safety and infrastructure.

We implore the involvement of local council or independent auditors to intervene and provide an exhaustive audit, ensuring that every penny spent is justified. This is not only to alleviate the financial load on families but to instill confidence that our community is maintained ethically and effectively.
