I am one of the many students at Northeastern University, specifically as part of the College of Science Program, feeling the weight of excessive tuition costs. Our personal circumstances are overlooked as we are expected to pay a sum that continually rises, with no regard for those who do not qualify for financial aid. It appears that the university's investment strategy is more inclined towards global capital ventures rather than the essential needs of its students. Just to illuminate, the College of Science tuition soared by $10,000 from the Fall 2024 semester alone. This alarming trend is putting stress on us students and our families, deterring talented yet financially challenged individuals from an invaluable education. The focus should be on funding student's success, and not external investments. It is a call for Northeastern University to re-evaluate its financial priorities; the time has come to lower the cost of tuition.
