Like many others, I find myself paralyzed in bumper-to-bumper traffic on a daily basis. The situation is not just frustrating; it is downright damaging to our quality of life. Traffic congestion in our city has reached critical levels. Our daily commutes have become exercises in patience and are eating into our personal and professional lives.

Recent studies have suggested that traffic congestion can increase stress levels and potentially cause other health issues. That aside, the economic impact is also significant. According to Texas A&M Transportation Institute, congestion costs the average auto commuter $1,377 and 54 extra hours per year.

I am urging our city leaders to acknowledge this issue and take proactive steps to reduce traffic congestion. This includes exploring viable options like improving public transport systems, promoting carpooling, constructing more efficient roadways, and developing sustainable urban planning methods.
