Furthermore, we pay higher premiums for our insurance within our superannuation, which adds an additional financial burden on top of our exhausting work schedules.

Despite these challenges, the retirement age for blue collar workers remains unjustly high. This must change to reflect the unique needs and occupational hazards associated with our labor-intensive roles. By lowering the retirement age for blue collar workers, we acknowledge the sacrifices made by those who have dedicated their lives to physically demanding jobs. This change would provide an opportunity for a healthier and potentially longer retirement, allowing workers to enjoy their golden years without the specter of ongoing hardship.

To the policymakers, it is imperative that we rethink the current retirement age criteria.
