Reduce the minimum height criteria in Assam Police recruitment

Reduce the minimum height criteria in Assam Police recruitment

The Issue

I've always dreamt of serving in the Assam Police. With unwavering dedication, I worked hard to meet all the requirements: I excelled in my studies and maintained peak physical fitness by running 5km daily. Yet, despite all my efforts, I faced rejection based on a single factor – my height. Standing at 4'11", I fell just one inch short of the current 5'0" height requirement for females. This seemingly small deficiency shattered my dream, even though height does not determine one's courage, honesty, or ability to serve.

I am not alone in this struggle. Thousands of dedicated and deserving youth across Assam face the same predicament. While commitment, dedication, and aptitude hold more importance in such a noble profession, they find their aspirations hindered by the stringent height criteria.

We are not advocating for any relaxation of merit. Our plea is simple: allow us a fair chance to compete by reducing the height criteria to 4'11" for females and 5'3" for males across all castes. This modification will enable many bright, capable candidates to participate in the recruitment process without discrimination based on a factor they cannot control.

This policy change can prevent the loss of many potential police officers who possess the determination to serve society with integrity and valor. Assisting us in this mission will strengthen Assam's law enforcement by bringing in dedicated individuals who might, due to a few inches, otherwise remain excluded. We are passionate, we are ready to learn, and above all, we are eager to serve.

I urge Assam Police and relevant authorities to consider this request seriously and implement a reduction in the height criteria for recruitment. Let's ensure that talent and dedication are not measured in inches but in ability and spirit.

Please sign this petition to support a change that values merit over height, providing equal opportunities to all aspirants willing to serve our society with honor and dedication. Together, let's open the doors for a fair recruitment process.
