I am a resident of the Twin Lakes neighborhood where the new Publix opened up on Hwy 53. I have personally witnessed many close calls (driver's side t-bone) between vehicles making the left turn out of Twin Lakes Blvd onto Hwy 53 (see red arrow below) and Eastbound traffic on 53. Many vehicles coming up over the hill from Peachtree Rd are already doing >55mph by the time they pass the 55mph speed limit sign located on the pic below. This presents limited reaction time for vehicles making the left turn at the red arrow below, especially because their view is often obstructed by a car in the turn lane turning right into Twin Lakes Blvd. Additionally, Westbound traffic on 53 (coming from Winder) usually does not slow down to 45 mph as the caution sign by Northeast Georgia Motorsports instructs.

I heard that GDOT is planning on putting traffic lights at the Peachtree and Twin Lakes Blvd intersections, but we need something in the meantime. Could we please get additional speed control devices (flashing signs, "YOUR SPEED IS", etc.), maybe in the areas indicated below? I'm hoping just getting traffic to follow posted speed limits will make it safer until the traffic lights are installed. We have a ton of families, kids, and new drivers in the community, so giving some extra reaction time would really help.
