My own experience, shared by countless other students, is one of struggling under a daily deluge of homework. Studies have shown that this constant pressure and lack of time for other activities can contribute to anxiety and exhaustion in students (Source: Journal of Educational Psychology, 2015). We believe a school system that operates three days a week would lighten this load considerably, allowing students time to process what they've learned and engage in other essential facets of growth like hobbies, part-time jobs, and spending time with families. Furthermore, The National Education Association and the National Parent Teacher Association recommend that students should only spend “10 minutes per grade level” per night on homework. This suggests that the volume of assignments being meted out daily is disproportionate and unfair. By slimming down our education system to a three-day week, we can reduce stress levels among students, promote balanced lifestyles and create a more focused academic environment.
