Living in the Stonington Community in Dover, DE, has become increasingly difficult and frustrating. As a parent, I used to look forward to my children playing outside and socializing with neighboring kids. However, it’s been disheartening to see them unable to do so due to the lack of safe and adequate facilities in our neighborhood. What makes the situation even worse is the recurring flat tires on my car, caused by the numerous potholes that remain unaddressed by our Homeowners Association (HOA).

We are all required to pay high HOA fees, yet, the community doesn’t reflect the quality or level of maintenance one would expect. The lack of street lights makes it dangerous to walk around the neighborhood at night, not only limiting our social interactions but also posing safety risks. Despite promises, the HOA has been neglecting timely lawn and street maintenance, leaving walkways hazardous and filled with cones as a temporary solution to the problem of potholes.

Residents deserve to see their hard-earned money put to effective use. The current management falls short in providing the basic services that are essential for a safe and welcoming community. This petition seeks to hold the Stonington Community HOA accountable and demand an immediate reduction in fees until significant improvements are made. We propose immediate action in repairing the potholes, installing adequate street lighting, and ensuring efficient maintenance of shared spaces.
