The situation is the same for many others and it needs to change. Car park businesses should not be capitalizing on consumer mishaps. They should only be allowed to charge fines that reflect the cost of the intended parking time and associated administrative fees. The economic burden of these excessive fines is substantial, unjustly affecting millions of drivers. According to the RAC Foundation, 4.7 million vehicle owners were issued with penalty tickets by private companies in the 2016/17 financial year - a 28% increase year on year. This rate continues to rise, with numerous drivers fined exorbitant amounts for minor infractions. It's time we put a stop to the profit-making venture disguised as fines. Let's change the system.
