Redirect Metroline's No. 28 Bus Route Away from Liddell Gardens

Redirect Metroline's No. 28 Bus Route Away from Liddell Gardens
The Issue
We are residents of Liddell Gardens, a tranquil street in North West London, shaken from its peace by the recent decision of Metroline to use our road as a short cut to transport empty number 28 double-decker buses back and forth to their Willesden Junction Bus Garage. Metroline's operations begin as early as 4.45am and run until long past midnight. The sudden arrival of these heavy rumbling double-decker buses, impairs not just our quality of life but also disrupts our much-needed rest.
The issue is not with the service of Metroline; we acknowledge its role in our city's transportation infrastructure. Our concern lies with the new operation of the bus route falling within the heart of our residential community, along a road that is not designed to accommodate double-decker buses.
A 2017 study by Environmental Psychology found that exposure to traffic-related noise significantly impairs sleep quality in adults, leading to several health issues including heart disease and stress disorders (Journal of Environmental Psychology, 2017). The unnecessary exposure to this noise pollution is an added strain to our lives, not to mention a growing concern that ground borne vibrations from the buses are causing damage to our property.
We are calling on Metroline to consider alternative routes that use existing double-decker bus routes, for example Harrow Road and Chamberlayne Road. We implore them to work towards minimising the noise pollution impacting the residents of Liddell Gardens. This is a solution that provides a win-win situation: continued bus service for Londoners and a quieter environment for Liddell Gardens' residents. We urge relevant authorities to review this matter urgently for the well-being of London residents. Please sign this petition to support this change.
