Redesign the Flag of Cabot, Arkansas for Better Representation

The Issue

Most homes in Cabot, Arkansas, and even businesses that are Cabot-specific do not fly our city's flag. The only places where our flag is flown high are the government buildings; required by law to do so. This signifies a lack of sense of belonging and pride among the residents of our beloved city. Personally, as an individual living in this city, it feels disheartening not to see our city's flag adorning the walls of our homes and local businesses.

Hence, this petition calls for a more inclusive redesign of the city's flag that can authentically represent all of us residing in Cabot, Arkansas. According to a study by the North American Vexillological Association, a well-designed flag can become an extremely powerful symbol to the entire community. This symbolism can serve to unify the community and to rally them around shared values (Ted Kaye, "Good Flag, Bad Flag").

We should seize this opportunity to embody not only our city's distinct character but also our shared values and vision for our community. We owe it to ourselves to create a symbol that carries meaning for everyone who calls Cabot their home. With this redesign, we hope to see our flag flown with pride across all of Cabot, not just in government buildings.

Your participation in signing this petition will play a crucial role in this process, urging the local government to consider our call for a flag redesign. Together we can foster an ever-stronger sense of community pride and unity. Please sign this petition today. (My flag redesign is shown above and has a strawberry on a green field. The green field represents Cabot’s, and Arkansas’s agricultural industry as a whole, and the beautiful green grass and trees. The strawberry represents one of the city’s long traditions, Stawberry Festival.)
