Redesign 50% of Streets in Downtown St. Louis to be Car-Free!

The Issue

At least half of all existing streets downtown should be redesigned to center car-free mobility. This may mean implementing permanent physical barriers, brick pavement, bus-only lanes and bike lanes to separate car-free zones from busy roads.

Traffic violence from speeding cars led to the injuries and deaths of St. Louis residents and visitors in the region.

Downtown already has metro connections, various buses, and density ideal for walkability. Many drivers may choose these alternatives if prioritizing the safety of people walking inconveniences them.

People deserve the right to exist downtown without fearing they will be run over.
