/r/againsthatesubreddits is a subreddit dedicated to pointing out hateful communities on the news aggregator website, Reddit. The idea for this community seems nice at first, until you realize the things that subreddit considers to be hateful can sometimes go overboard. When you pay close attention to the subreddit, you'll quickly find out that basically any subreddit that doesn't follow the leftist, liberal agenda can be considered a hateful subreddit under their eyes, even if it actually isn't so. Subreddits like /r/prolife, /r/conservative and /r/the_donald have all been targeted by this subreddit. In case you couldn't tell, all those subreddits have in common that they are right-wing topics and believes. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they are hateful subreddits! The second biggest problem with /r/againsthatesubreddits is that the reddit global moderators (the people who have the power to ban subreddits) actually browse this subreddit and pay close attention to what they say. This is a huge problem because /r/againsthatesubreddits has been shown to purposefully take things out of context to make it fit their agenda and get subreddit they don't like banned! They've also made fake accounts pretending to be conservatives, posting hateful messages on /r/the_donald and using that as evidence as to why /r/the_donald should be banned. Well, /r/the_donald is now quarantined. It's not completely banned yet, but being quarantined is one stepping stone towards being banned.

Reddit advertises itself as a platform, not a journalist. Advertising yourself as a platform implies that you shouldn't have any ulterior motives to what people can talk about. Imagine what it would've been like if back when telephones were starting to be used in the 1920s, the operator had the power to decide whether it wanted you to talk to the person you were trying to contact or not. It probably would've been terrible! That is why platforms and journalists can not be mixed in together. And that is why both /r/againsthatesubreddits and reddit need to stop the censorship.
